At first sight…

I love books, I love bookstores, I love libraries! Rows and rows of books, the beautiful spines, the smell of the paper. Each one represents a new story, a new world, new ways of life. There are so many books to hold, to touch, to experience.

So many books and not enough time to read them all, even in a dozen lifetimes. So we pick and choose the books we read. What is it that makes you pick up a particular book and read it? Is it the cover? We’re taught to not judge a book by its cover, but there are some that are simply works of art. Maybe it’s the blurb that draws your attention. Blurbs are short, but they can ensnare you with a hint of the magic within the pages. Or is it a recommendation from someone you trust to know your reading loves?

For me, it’s usually one of two things. The author’s name, if it’s one I know, and the cover. Covers are important. But they aren’t everything. They are only one part of the magic of a great book!
