So just over a week into NaNoWriMo and I can say that it’s going pretty well. I’m about a week ahead of schedule, which gives me a nice cushion in a month with Thanksgiving in it. I’ve never been one of those writers who is capable of cranking out five or six thousand words in a day. My life just doesn’t allow for that on regular basis. But I’ve had a decent string of what are for me good word counts. I’ve consistently had a daily word count over the target of 1,667 words, so I’m happy about it.
And I’m loving the story. I have a cover posted with it on my NaNoWriMo page, but it is just a filler cover. The true cover is one I bought a while ago from Lonnie Rae Hebert of Cover Crush Designs. I bought it without a story in mind because I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. So that cover is the inspiration for The Masquerade. It’s going to be a young adult novel that explores the reality that utopias never really are. No idea when I’m actually going to publish it, since I still have to finish it and send it to an editor. And then rewrites. So much fun!
