“Why are you doing this, Eden? She’s your daughter.”

“She’s Nix’s daughter, not mine.”

At my words, I felt the knife dig in a little deeper, felt the warmth of my blood as it seeped through the cut she’d made. I didn’t care. It didn’t matter. All that mattered was the little girl on the ground, still unmoving.
