I love reading challenges! I did many of them when I was actively book blogging and I still do a lot of them on my own. They are such a good way to get out of your comfort zone and diversify your reading. So, I decided to create some reading lists by genre, topic, etc. […]
NOTE: Click on the tag to see all 2019 challenge posts. This may be something you don’t know about me, but I used to be a book blogger. I still am, from time to time. And reading challenges were my jam! I LOVE THEM! It’s a fun way to look at your reading habits and, […]
From Last Call, releasing on 17 January 2019, © Kim Deister “Why are you doing this, Eden? She’s your daughter.” “She’s Nix’s daughter, not mine.” At my words, I felt the knife dig in a little deeper, felt the warmth of my blood as it seeped through the cut she’d made. I didn’t care. It didn’t […]
From Last Night, © Kim Deister Night fell quickly, swallowing the last light of day in the blink of an eye. The sky darkened from a surreal deep purple into a vast expanse of ebony. Not a single star pricked through the inky darkness. Even the moon shied away from shining too brightly through the […]
Sometimes in the wonderful world of books, you run across characters and places you would love to visit. For more reading is a form of escape into another world, so why not a fictional bucket list? I want to spend a year at Hogwarts. In Gryffindor, of course. Then I want to spend another year […]
From Finding Zaide, releasing on 1 April 2019 in the Love is Love anthology, © Kim Deister A tattooed peacock poked its head out from under the back of her top, its tail spread across her shoulders. When he walked into sight and stopped next to Coach, I felt my heart pitter-pat. Holy Jesus. I wasn’t a religious woman, but standing in front of me […]

From Finding Zaide, releasing on 1 April 2019 in the Love is Love anthology, © Kim Deister My toe touched the garbage can under the desk and I started to reach for it, more willing to barf in that than all over my desk. But I knew that just holding it in my hand would be tacit […]
Maybe it’s cliché, but sometimes the truth really is stranger than fiction. Every now and then, I come across a book or movie and discover that it was inspired by true events. Like the Silent Hill movie franchise, based on a town in Pennsylvania and the hallucinations said to have been experienced by people affected by the […]
Every now and then, I come across an autobiography that really gets to me for one reason or another. These are some of my favorites! Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis. I love the Chili Peppers, so I had to read this when it came out. It was so raw and so intriguing! Goodreads | Amazon Troublemaker by […]
