I’ve loved books my entire life. I still remember the first novel I read when I was barely five, Little House on the Prairie. Books have always been a huge part of my life, even before I decided to begin writing. And along the way, I’ve picked up some pretty obscure facts about them. Did […]
There are celebs with some serious side hustles. Fashion lines, perfume, makeup, you name it. My favorite side hustle? Celeb authors! And I’m not talking autobiographies, although some of those are good, too. I’m talking fiction! Lauren Conrad of MTV “reality” fame has two YA contemporary romance series out there, L.A. Candy and Fame Game. […]
There is nothing I love more than something that bucks the normal. Which probably explains my age and choice of a Mohawk as a hair style. Moving on… today let’s talk about weird book titles, the kind that make you wonder WTF? Goblinproofing One’s Chicken Coop: And Other Practical Advice in Our Campaign Against the […]
Valentine’s Day is coming up, and while I’m not really all that big on it, I can’t help but think a little about love. First loves & first crushes. The world can read about my first crush in Eclipsed, buy links and info here (!), so what about my first love? They are not the […]
Sometimes I read a book, and then it sets me on a course where I have to read more and more books with that seem. Mermaid, zombies, dystopias, books set in other worlds… you get the idea! One of my favorite obsessions is the multiverse. So here’s a curated list of some of my favorites, […]
Eclipsed is the most personal book I’ve written to date. It’s inspired by my first real crush. In fact, the first roughly third of the book, is very autobiographical. The good and the bad. Sad but true! But it gave rise to my favorite couple that I’ve written about to date, even if the ending […]
The year is coming to an end! In my world, it was a never ending series of changes, both big and small. But no matter what, there were books to keep me together. Books, in my opinion, are magical. They can transport you in seconds to another world, another time, another life. People read for […]
How about something a little different today instead of Music or Movie Monday or Man Crush Monday? M Books for Monday!!! I thought I’d curate a list of fabulous books with the letter M! Matched (Matched series, #1) by Ally Condie. → Great dystopian YA! Magic Bites (Kate Daniels series, #1) by Ilona Andrews. → […]
The world slipped away and we were alone on the deck, wrapped up in each other. from One Stormy Night , © 2018 Kim Deister This is from One Stormy Night, the Kissing Frogs prequel. I probably had the most fun writing this book, mainly because of the research involved. It’s a time-up, paranormal romance, […]
I never thought I’d be one of those women, the ones who can’t see what’s in front of them, the ones that make the excuses. Not even to other, but the ones that you make to yourself. Those are the worst ones, the most insidious. They are the ones the creep inside your mind and […]
I was free, free to embrace the darkness within me and free to bathe in its power. from Last Night , © 2019 Kim Deister This is from one of my favorite scenes in the book. She’s been through hell and back, a hell that would be unimaginable for most of us. She’s been pushed […]
